Do you have a design process? You should!

Behind the scenes at Deer Designer

In this post, we spoke a little bit about how important it is to have processes in place. Some of you asked us so here’s how we do things at Deer Designer.

Brief

The first time a client makes a design request, they do it via a quick form. The request form is there to educate and tackle all questions about the request without wasting time. When they’re with us for a few months, there’s no need for using the form. A simple email with the request will do, since now they know everything we need from them to create their designs.

Research

The designer then looks into the client’s brand, past designs and how they’ve been targeting their customers. This stage usually happens fairly quick if the client and their designer have been working together for a while.

Inspiration

Here’s when the designer looks for inspiration and examples to get the creative juices flowing. It’s not about looking for guidance or any specific type of graphic design at this point. They’re just getting their brains in the mood for the next step.

Design

Whether they use a sketchbook or go straight to Photoshop, that’s when the ideas start to take shape. As soon as they finish the designs, the client gets an email to download the files and use them as they wish.

Amends / Revisions

Most of the time our clients are 100% happy with their designs. Whenever they need changes, a quick reply to their designer does the trick. That process will take as long as the client requires to get things perfect. We only stop when you’re 100% happy.

There you go: the secret sauce has been revealed!

What about you? Have you put your processes in place yet?

Look at what they’re saying about us ?

  • Every design feels like it was made especially for me. I never have to worry about crap design work. No templates, no clip-arts, no messing around. Finally, I don’t have to touch Photoshop again.

  • I can't thank you enough. Even if I don't send any request in the next 6 months, it's still worth it! The designs are as professional as a design agency and cheaper than hiring freelancers. I love my designer! She's always there when I need her and I don't have to tell her what fonts, colours or images to use. I'm never going back to freelancers!
