Understanding your plan
How slots work
A slot is one lane of active design work. The more lanes you have, the more work moves at the same time.
You're buying parallel design capacity — not hours, not credits, and not "one task per day."
Learn how it worksThe basics
What is a slot?
Think of slots like lanes on a highway. Each lane carries one vehicle (one design task) at a time. More lanes = more tasks moving simultaneously.
Slots = parallel work
2 slots means 2 different designers are actively working on 2 different tasks at the exact same time. Not one after the other.
Complexity = time in lane
A simple social post clears the lane in a few hours. A landing page might take 1–3 days. The task stays in the slot until it's delivered.
Capacity, not credits
Unused slots don't roll over to next month. You're buying a production lane that's always open for you — like a reserved desk, not a punch card.
Common misconceptions
What slots are not
"One task per day"
A slot isn't a daily ration. When one task finishes, the next one starts immediately. You can get many tasks done per slot each month.
"I'm buying hours"
You're buying capacity, not a time bank. You never need to worry about how many hours something "costs" you.
"Unused slots carry over"
Slots are active capacity: like a reserved lane on a highway. If you don't drive on it today, the lane doesn't "stack up" for tomorrow.
"Complex work costs extra"
Nope. A landing page uses the same slot as a social post. It simply occupies the lane longer. No surprise fees, no add-ons.
Step by step
How your work flows
From the moment you submit a brief to the final delivery, here's exactly what happens inside your slot.
Submit your brief
Drop your request into Buckboard, our communication platform. Attach your assets, describe what you need, and hit submit. Your brief enters an open slot.
Your dedicated team picks it up
A designer from your pod (a team that knows your brand, your preferences, and your standards) starts working on it right away.
Quality check before you see it
Every design goes through a quality review before delivery. You're not the QA department... we are.
Review & give feedback
Use Buckboard's visual annotation tool to mark up exactly what you want changed. No more "move the logo a bit to the left" emails.
Approve & free the slot
Once you approve the delivery, the slot opens up and your next task starts immediately. The cycle continues.

Examples: how many slots, how long it usually takes
How long things take
These are typical patterns. Exact timing depends on your brief, assets, and revisions.
Remember: a slot stays in use until that piece of work is delivered (or you ask us to pause it). Complex work simply keeps the lane busy longer. Not more lanes, just more time.
Turnaround starts when your brief is approved, not when it's submitted. A clear, complete brief with all assets attached means faster delivery. Missing info? We'll ask before the clock starts, and the slot is not consumed until we do.
See it in action
A day in the life of a 2-slot plan
Here's how a Pro client (2 slots) might use their capacity on a typical Monday.
The Instagram carousel clears Slot 1 by end of day. The email header starts immediately. Meanwhile, Slot 2 is occupied by a complex landing page that spans multiple days. Both lanes run simultaneously.
Scaling up
What if I need more?
"My slots are always full"
If your tasks consistently queue up because all your slots are occupied, that's a signal you'd benefit from more lanes. Your Client Success manager will flag this and help you explore upgrading to the next plan for more parallel capacity.
"I need one thing done faster"
You can prioritize a task by pausing another active one. Just let your team know through Buckboard. The paused task picks back up once the priority item clears.
Real scenario: Pro plan (2 slots) — three tasks at once
Say you want a landing page design, a pitch deck, and a social post all running at the same time. Every task uses 1 slot. On a Pro plan (2 slots), two start immediately — the third queues automatically and kicks off the moment either finishes. If you consistently need three or more tasks in flight at the same time, upgrading to Partner (4 slots) gives you the room.
Extra tasks don't get lost. If you submit more work than your slots can handle, everything queues automatically in Buckboard. As soon as a slot opens, the next task starts.

The ground rules
How slots are enforced
These aren't guidelines—they're how the system works. Clear rules mean no surprises for either side.
- Slots = parallel tasks in active production simultaneously.
- Tasks occupy a slot until delivered, approved, or explicitly paused by you.
- Complex tasks occupy a slot for longer, not more slots. A Core client’s only lane stays busy for the full task duration (e.g. 1–3 days for a landing page or 4–5 days for motion work).
- Unused slots do not roll over. You're buying capacity, not credits.
- Extra demand above your slot count queues automatically. Upgrade to get more lanes.
- Poorly briefed tasks are held—your slot is not consumed until the brief is complete and approved.
- Specialists (video, dev, motion) consume 1 slot from your plan. No extra fee, no separate billing. Specialist access is available on Pro & Partner plans.
- Slots are enforced in Buckboard automatically—the system manages it so you don't have to.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
How many tasks can I get done per month?
It depends on complexity. A Core (1-slot) client can typically expect 10–18 simple assets or 4–8 complex pieces per month. A Pro (2-slot) client doubles that range because both slots run simultaneously. Check the plan cards above for detailed estimates.
What happens if I submit more tasks than I have slots for?
Your extra tasks queue automatically in Buckboard. As soon as a slot opens up (a current task is delivered and approved), the next queued task starts immediately. Nothing gets lost.
Can I pause a task to prioritize something else?
Yes. Just let your team know through Buckboard. The paused task holds its place and picks back up when a slot is available.
Do complex tasks cost more?
No. All design services are included in every plan. A complex task (like a landing page) simply occupies a slot for longer than a simple one (like a social post). Same price, different timeline.
What about specialist work like video or development?
Specialist work (video editing, motion graphics, Webflow development) uses 1 slot — the same as any other task. No extra fees, no separate billing. Specialist access is included on Pro & Partner plans.
What if I don't use all my slots some days?
Unused slots don't roll over. Think of it like a gym membership — the equipment is always there when you need it, but you don't get bonus hours for days you skip. Your capacity is always ready when you are.
When does turnaround time start?
The clock starts when your brief is approved — not when it's submitted. If we need more information or assets, we'll ask first. This way, turnaround reflects actual production time, not back-and-forth.
Can I request a landing page on a Core (1-slot) plan?
Yes, but a landing page is complex work that occupies your entire slot for 1–3 business days. During that time, no other tasks can run in parallel. If you regularly need complex work alongside other tasks, Pro (2 slots) gives you more room.
Where do I communicate with my team?
All communication happens through Buckboard, our communications platform. You submit briefs, review work with visual annotations, and message your Client Success manager there. No need to juggle email, Slack, or other tools.
Am I locked into a long-term contract?
No. You can go month-to-month with the flexibility to cancel anytime. We also offer quarterly and annual plans with discounts if you'd like to commit for a better rate.
Can I upgrade my plan later?
Absolutely! If you consistently find your slots full and work is queuing up, your Client Success manager will help you upgrade to add more parallel capacity. You can upgrade at any time.
