3 Concrete examples that good design sells

Great design is like a free salesperson.

Let me tell you about my friend Kelly. She’s a graphic designer and crazy good at it. A while back, she got hired by this company selling workout gear online, but they just couldn’t make sales, even though their stuff was awesome.

They tried it all: Facebook ads, Instagram influencers, email marketing, you name it. But nothing clicked. Then Kelly stepped in.

She checked out their website and immediately knew what was wrong. The design was terrible! The images were blurry, the fonts were all over the place, and it had a very confusing layout.

So she got to work and revamped the whole site. And guess what? Sales went through the roof! The company couldn’t believe it. They didn’t change anything else, just the design, and suddenly they were making tons of money.

This is just one example of how good design can sell itself. But here are a few more reasons why it’s so important.

Proof that good design sells itself

First of all, good design catches people’s attention. Think about it: when you’re scrolling through your Instagram feed, what makes you stop and look at a post? Is it the bland, boring ones with no pictures or colour? No way!

It’s the ones that are bright, eye-catching, and well-designed. The same goes for websites, product packaging, and pretty much anything else.

In the same way, good design makes your product look more valuable. If something looks like it was designed with care and attention to detail, people will assume that it’s high-quality and worth their money.

On the other hand, if it looks sloppy and poorly designed, people will assume that it’s cheap and not worth their time.

Good design should make people feel good. When we see something beautiful and well-designed, we remember it, share it, and maybe even buy it. It’s like seeing a cute dress at a store: you just gotta have it ’cause it’s so darn pretty.

Design is your free sales rep

There’s this local coffee shop that had a promo where you could leave your business card in a fishbowl for a 10% discount. Nice, right? I peeked into the bowl and saw tons of logos.

There were no big brands, but I could tell most were tech and industrial companies just from their designs. See, without even touching them, I knew what the companies were about.

It’s obvious: good design sells itself. If you’re trying to sell something, don’t underestimate the power of design.
