Misconception debunked: Designers don’t just work 9-5
In the past few years, a lot of jobs were saved because companies decided to let people work remotely.
Now that things are looking up, most businesses are sticking with remote work because they’ve seen that people are even more productive when they can work from anywhere they want.
This isn’t really news for creative folks like writers, artists, and designers. They’ve been doing this kind of thing for years.
Designers, for example, don’t have a typical 9-5 schedule. Their creative minds are always on, even when they’re not using design tools.
As a creative person, I can tell you that we often work way past normal working hours. It’s not just because we’re passionate about what we do (which we are!).
There are a bunch of reasons why designers have to put in extra time, and it’s important for people to know this so they don’t undervalue design work.
Creativity doesn’t follow a schedule
First of all, designing is a creative process, and creativity doesn’t always come on a schedule. Sometimes, the best ideas come at odd hours, and designers have to act on them right away before they slip away.
They might be up all night sketching, experimenting with colour palettes, or tweaking layouts until they get it just right.
Deadlines don’t care about time zones
On top of that, there are often tight deadlines and client demands to deal with. If a project needs to be finished by a certain date, designers have to put in the extra time to make sure it’s perfect.
And if a client wants revisions or changes, designers have to be available to make those updates as quickly as possible.
At Deer Designer, they don’t work 24/7, but they have a tight process that makes sure all your revisions are taken care of ASAP to meet standard turnaround times. Most of their clients are thrilled to get their designs even sooner than expected.
Collaboration must be timely
We can’t forget about the different stages of a design project. Designers spend hours researching, brainstorming, sketching, and prototyping before they even start working on the final product.
And once they’re in the production phase, there are still lots of little details to take care of, like file formats, resolutions, and compatibility with different devices.
All of this takes time and effort, and they can’t always stick to a 9-5 schedule if they want to deliver high-quality work.
Our deer designers are able to exceed expectations by delivering on time because they work in teams or squads.
Our designers are able to focus solely on creating designs, while account managers make sure that all the client’s requirements are clear and timely, and there’s even a quality analyst that ensures that all your instructions and revisions are followed.
Time for a reality check!
So, the next time someone tells you that designers only work 9-5, you can set them straight. Designers are hardworking, dedicated professionals who put their heart and soul into their work.
They might not always be available during traditional office hours, but that’s because they’re busy creating amazing things that will make your brand stand out. And that’s something to be proud of!
