Impress clients and welcome employees in a well-designed office.

Have you ever found yourself missing the good ol’ days of reporting to the office? I’ve been working remotely for six years now, and even though I love the setup, I still get those moments of nostalgia.

You know, the view from the 17th floor, the free coffee from the pantry, and those long chats with my work buddies…

Sometimes, when I’m feeling a bit bored with my work-from-home routine, I can’t help but daydream about our old office. It had such a cozy atmosphere, thanks to the open floor plan.

Oh, and let me tell you about this corner we called the “Bikini Bottom”! We had a huge Spongebob plushie chilling there. It always brought a smile to my face.

And guess what? We even had a meeting space that looked like a jacuzzi, minus the water, of course. It was pretty cool.

Okay, I’ll admit it: I used to be super proud of our office’s design. It inspired me to arrive early every day, just so I could enjoy the entire place to myself for a few precious minutes.

It was our little hidden gem. And let me tell you, whenever we had investors or foreign counterparts visit our office, they couldn’t stop gushing about how awesome it was. It was definitely something to brag about!

So, let’s talk about how important it is to design a kickass business space that not only impresses your clients and employees but also shouts out your brand’s identity and creates a good work vibe.

Got a local team that needs a home? Or maybe you’re thinking about setting up a physical store for your online shop. This article dives into the importance of using design principles to create a space that’s both welcoming and professional.

After all, your office or shop is still part of your brand. So, I’ll also share some key design strategies to help you achieve that goal. Let’s do this!

Reflecting brand identity

When it comes to a well-designed business space, it’s all about reflecting your brand’s identity and values.

Every little thing, from the colors you choose to the furniture and decor, should align with your company’s mission, vision, and target audience.

Say you run a tech startup: a sleek and modern design would totally rock. But if you’re running a law firm, a more traditional and sophisticated vibe might be the way to go.

Keep things consistent throughout the space to reinforce your brand image and give visitors a cohesive experience.

Functional layout

To create a space that’s inviting and professional, you gotta plan out a killer layout that optimizes functionality. Some owners are blessed with a wide space and a gracious landlord that they can go all loco with the design and layout.

Think about how people will move around and what activities will take place in the space. Set up specific areas for different functions, like a reception area, workstations, meeting rooms, and communal spaces.

Make sure these areas are easy to access and well-connected, so people can navigate smoothly. A well-thought-out layout boosts productivity, collaboration, and efficiency – all the good stuff!

Lighting and color scheme

Now, let’s shed some light on the importance of lighting and color. Good lighting and a well-chosen color scheme can really set the tone in your business space. Natural light is like gold – it makes the place feel open and alive.

So, if you can, go for big windows or skylights to let that natural goodness in. And when it comes to artificial lighting, choose wisely!

You want enough light for different tasks without it being too harsh or dim. As for colors, neutral tones bring a professional vibe, but don’t be afraid to sprinkle in some vibrant pops of color for extra personality.

Comfortable and ergonomic furniture

Here’s a biggie – investing in comfortable and ergonomic furniture. You want your clients to feel welcomed and at ease, and your employees need furniture that keeps them in good shape, literally! Standing desks please!

Look for chairs and desks that provide proper support, adjustable features, and enough workspace. Oh, and don’t forget to add cozy seating options in waiting areas or communal spaces for a chill vibe.

Attention to detail

Let’s talk about the little things that make a big difference. Paying attention to small yet impactful elements like artwork, plants, signage, and branding materials can take your business space to the next level.

Artwork adds visual interest and personality, while plants bring in that fresh and natural touch. Clear and well-designed signage helps people (especially visitors) find their way around easily.

And don’t forget to strategically place your branding materials like logos and slogans to reinforce your brand identity and make a lasting impression. Deer Designer can help you will all of these.

You’ll be surprised that making your business space pretty and presentable impacts productivity, reduces employee churn and positively impacts investors.

These are important considerations, don’t you think?
